Three schools from the Caerphilly County Borough were recently recognised for their travel planning.
Ysgol Gynradd Penalltau, Rhiw-Syr-Dafydd Primary School, and Bryn Awel Primary School, each received a bronze award at the Sewta (South East Wales Transport Alliance) Travel Planning Awards, held at Cardiff City Hall on Tuesday April 23.
Cllr Tom Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transportation and Engineering, said: “The active and effective travel planning of our schools is truly commendable.
“There has been a significant reduction in car use due to an increasing number walking to and from school, helping to make the Caerphilly county borough a greener place for all residents. I would like to thank the staff for their commitment and effort, without whom these awards would not have been possible.”
Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, added: “Well done to all three schools for their success in obtaining the bronze award. All three establishments continue to show total commitment to sustainability and to reducing congestion around their schools.”
