A junior football team has unveiled its new kit thanks to sponsorship from a firm owned by one of its assistant coach

The Blackwood Town Girls and Boys FC under 9s squad have new colours after assistant team coach, and father-of-two, Haydn Thomas donated 11 kits from his firm of chartered surveyors Hutchings and Thomas.

The club, formed two years ago, has recently swelled its ranks to 70 new players ranging in age from the under 7s to under 13s.

Haydn, who has two sons at the club, said: “The football club has grown enormously over the past two years but we are always looking for keen, new players in all the age groups, to come along and join us.

“We already have a number of talented youngsters in our club. Arsenal and Wales’ Aaron Ramsay is from the local area as is Wales and Crystal Palace’s Darcy Blake. The two local players act as great role models for all our youngsters.”

The club plays its home matches at Libanus Field, Pontllanfraith.
