More than 2,000 children across Caerphilly County Borough got the chance to share in the Welsh rugby team’s Six Nations triumph when the championship trophy visited their schools.

The trophy visited six schools to help promote local rugby clubs and to encourage young people to work hard and achieve.

Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “This tour has allowed school children across Caerphilly County Borough to share the victory felt by the whole country when Wales won yet another Six Nations tournament earlier this year. A tour of this nature demonstrates to them how rewarding it is to try their best in all that they do.”

The tour of the Six Nations trophy was organised by the council and the Welsh Rugby Union.

The schools that took part were: Plasyfelin Primary, YGG Caerfilli, St Gwladys Primary, Blackwood Primary, Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary and Ystrad Mynach Primary.
