Caerphilly Council improving on paying invoices on time

Business, News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Thursday June 13th, 2013.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has said it is improving on paying its bills on time.

In 2012/13 the council managed to pay 94.2% of its undisputed within 30 days.

Despite missing its target of 95%, the local authority has pointed an improvement on the previous year’s result of 93.39%.

Cllr Keith Reynolds, Deputy Leader of Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Corporate Services, said: “We recognise the importance on paying our bills as quickly as possible, and understand how important it is for small businesses in particular to be paid on time, as late payments can have a significant detrimental impact, particularly in the current economic climate.

“We will continue in our efforts to make our payment processes as efficient and effective as possible, and we want all contractors to know that if they trade with Caerphilly County Borough Council and get their invoices presented correctly, they will be paid promptly.

“Our target will remain at 95% for 2013/14.”

In addition to the 30 day target, the council has another target to pay invoices within 13 calendar days.
Last year the result was an average of 12.78 calendar days.

The figure was 13.92 calendar days the previous year.
