Police called after man stabs himself in Abertridwr

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital after stabbing himself in Abertridwr.

Gwent Police said they were called to The Square, Abertridwr, at 5.45pm on Sunday June 16.

The man had a one inch puncture wound to his stomach and was taken to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff for treatment.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “Following further enquiries it transpired that the man had caused the injury to himself. The appropriate referrals for further support have been made to our partner agencies.”

While the police helicopter was called out to look for someone in connection to an assault last night, the Gwent Police spokeswoman said she did know if it was the same incident and would not say if the man was alone when he stabbed himself.

She added: “We are not releasing any further information.”
