Thirty-five young learners have received awards after completing an education programme through Caerphilly County Borough Council.
The learners were presented with certificates by ex-rugby international and ACT Skills Ambassador Jonathan Davies for their achievements in learning.
Awards included Best Learner, Best Attendance and Most Improved Learner amongst others.
In total 67 learners completed the programme and are all pupils for whom traditional education settings were not appropriate, often with high levels of truancy or multiple exclusions.
The Active Pathways Programme which is delivered by Ystrad Mynach College and Coleg Gwent and focuses on vocational courses such as Childcare or Construction and the learners receive extra support through their Active Pathways worker, attending the ACT skills academy and working with Caerphilly Outdoor Education Centre.
Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “Congratulations to all the learners, they have shown that with the support, hard work and determination that anyone can change their outlook and ultimately their future.”
