A Caerphilly primary school has been awarded with a Green Flag in addition to gaining Fairtrade School status.
The two awards were given to St James Primary School in Caerphilly for the pupils’ hard ‘eco’ work in the school and in the local community.
Staff and pupils have been busy flying the flag for environmental and fairtrade issues, working to reduce the amount of litter both in the school and the local community.
An ‘Eco committee’ works alongside staff, pupils and the wider community to ensure the school is as environmentally friendly as possible.
Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “It is a pleasure to see our Caerphilly County Borough schools championing environmental responsibility.
“I am thrilled that they are indeed setting the example for all of our residents to follow.”
