Changes to roads near Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Thursday August 8th, 2013.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has said planned changes to roads near Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr are due to driver feedback.

There will be lining and signing alterations to Cwm Ddu and Royal Oak roundabouts and sections of the A472/A469 to improve driver awareness. This will include enlarged no entry signage, yellow boxes and improvements to road markings.

In order to reduce congestion at the Maesycwmmer signalised junction the green times for the A472 will be increased during the morning and afternoon peak hour periods incrementally from 60 seconds to 120 seconds.

Cllr Tom Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transportation and Engineering said: “We have listened to the comments from residents and those using our roads every day and thanks to their feedback we are able to make subtle changes that will hopefully make a big difference.”

So…they change that road due to driver feedback but not the road by St Cenydd School which is equally as hated.

Exactly Cheryl. The council has also received bad feedback concerning St.Cenydd school roundabout but they don't seem prepared to change it. The roundabout is dangerous and I am so surprised an accident has not occurred due to the roundabout layout.

It's a dangerous layout for cars but also for the school children in Hendre and St Cenydd.

I don't know what else can be done to get the roundabout altered. Complaints to the local councillors (apart from Steve, the newest ward councillor) seem to fall on deaf ears. All three, Lindsay, Margaret and Huw are full of empty promises. All have agreed road layout is not ideal but nothing has changed.
