Police warning to Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van owners after thefts in Bedwas and Caerphilly

Gwent Police is warning owners of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans after a spate of exhaust thefts in the Bedwas and Caerphilly area.

Last week officers received two reports, one in Corbett’s Lane and one at Dawson Van Rentals on the Bedwas House Industrial Estate.

In each of the thefts, exhaust systems, including catalytic converters, were removed and stolen.

PC Stuart Lewis, of Caerphilly Local Policing Unit, said: “We are currently investigating each reported crime and asking owners of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans to secure their vehicles and remain alert. Steps that can be taken to prevent this type of crime include parking vehicles in well-lit, open areas and installing CCTV camera systems.”

Officers are currently looking for your support and help by reporting any suspicious activity immediately by calling Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Rest assured, people of Caerphilly. The crime will soon stop once the thieves have been handed some community service and extra benefit money to help with rehabilitation.

Novel concept, perhaps for their community service they could give the old pitch forks a good polish. What use a procession of torches without a gleaming pitch fork or two.
