Bedwas lost out to Championship opposition for the second time in three days despite winning the try count four to three with coach Steve Law continuing a policy of giving new faces game time.

The game started at a fast pace and Bedwas were first over the whitewash when Rory Budina crossed over wide out. Richard Powell making his first start after eight months out injured missed the conversion.

Seven minutes good home pressure was rewarded with a try by Carl Townsend, Bevan Howells adding the conversion. Mid way through the half, Ethan Doyle extended the Newbridge lead with a well taken try. Howells again adding the conversion.

Two tries in three minutes from Bedwas right wing Elliot Jones, the first converted by Powell, edged Bedwas ahead before Newbridge scrum half Luke Crane snipped over for a try, again converted by Howells.

The second half saw plenty of endeavour but precious few try scoring opportunities. Josh Jones slotted a 64th minute penalty to increase his sides lead to 24-17. Bedwas worked hard to find a way back into the game but made too many unforced errors. Zac Hadley crossed for an unconverted try after 73 minutes but the Newbridge defence held out for a deserved win.
