Welsh Water work in Caerphilly town centre continues

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:46, Monday September 23rd, 2013.

D?r Cymru Welsh Water is to continue with the second phase of work to carry out upgrades to the water mains in Caerphilly town.

Work will be carried out on Cardiff Road and Market Street simultaneously.

The work is due to commence on September 23 and will take up to eight weeks.

In order to minimise disruption, Welsh Water contractors will be carrying out the work between numbers 2 and 38 Cardiff Road during the night. For safety reasons, it will be necessary to close this road during the hours of 8pm and 6am.

A diversionary route will be in place and this will be clearly signposted. The work on Market Street will be carried out during the day between 7.30am and 6pm.

D?r Cymru Welsh Water’s distribution manager for the area Gavin Williams said: “Welsh Water is investing heavily to ensure our customers receive a top quality supply of drinking water to their taps for many, many years to come.

“We have been liaising closely with Caerphilly County Borough Council Highways department to agree traffic measures that will enable us to get the job done safely and quickly, whilst also keeping traffic moving and avoiding excessive delays.

“We’ve written to people who will be directly impacted by the work and we’d also like to thank everyone else affected for bearing with us while we work in their community.”
Any queries arising from these works should be directed to D?r Cymru Welsh Water’s call centre on 0800 052 0130.
