Football: Ynysddu lose to Chepstow

Sport | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:22, Monday September 23rd, 2013.

FOOTBALL: Ynysddu FC bow out of the FAW Welsh cup with their heads held high after a 3-0 loss to a strong Chepstow on September 14.

After a good week for Ynysddu Welfare, they headed into the cup tie with the belief they could cause another upset against a side who play three leagues higher than them. The game started at a very high pace with both sides going at each other hammer and tongs.

A rash challenge from keeper Luke Morgan gave the referee no option but to award a penalty, putting Chepstow up 1-0.
A chip shot by The Welfare took an unlucky bounce after hitting the underside of the bar, allowing Chepstow to clear.
A volley into the far corner then put Chepstow ahead by two.

With two minutes left on the clock, another break from Chepstow gave them the third goal to kill the game off for Ynysddu.
