Pensioners attacked and robbed in Cwmcarn

A pensioner suffered injuries to her face, arm and leg after a robber took her handbag and pushed her to the ground.

Police officers are appealing for information following the robbery which happened on Newport Road, Cwmcarn at 11.30pm on Saturday October 5.

Two women, aged 68 and 75, were walking along Newport Road when they were approached by a man who grabbed the handbag belonging to one of the women and then pushed her to the ground.

The woman sustained injuries to her face, arm and leg which required treatment.

The robber ran off in the direction of Wood Street, Abercarn. He is described as white, aged 20 to 30-years-old, about 5ft 8 in tall and of stocky build. He was wearing jogging bottoms and a hooded jumper.
