Officers from Gwent Police, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Caerphilly County Borough Council have been visiting selected licensed premises as part of a crackdown.

Officers recently conducted unannounced visits to three premises in Caerphilly County Borough that have previously caused problems.

As part of the checks, under age test purchases of alcohol were undertaken, and the premises were subjected to checks for fire safety, health and safety, excessive noise, compliance with their licence conditions, trading standards and smoking ban checks.

In total, the checks identified 51 breaches of various laws.

Additionally, all three premises were tested to ensure that alcohol was not served to under age drinkers. One failed is now under investigation by Trading Standards.

Try the Kins Arms Cardiff Road.

Fire waiting to happen with cooking fat clogging up the cooking extractor units, cooking fat also running through the unit and therefore through the licenced area, an fire incident waiting to happen, and CAERPHILLY COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL INSPECTORS failing to take action to prevent it,even thought they know about, including the horrible smells this Pub emits through it`s air extractor system, spewing its stench all over the town.

To 'Jeff' – I have been working on various problems between the King's Arms and its neighbours for more than a year. Some problems have been resolved but the extraction from the kitchen has not been addressed by the owners (Stonehouse).

I have reported this to the Environment Dept. of the council and they have told me that this matter is, after I reminded them, passed to enforcment. Things are still taking too long and I am chasing this matter up.
