Hundreds of people attended Remembrance Day services across Caerphilly County Borough on Sunday.

In Caerphilly town, the annual parade took place through the town centre and down to the Cenotaph at the Twyn.

Local politicians, dignitaries and representatives from the Royal British Legion and other groups laid wreaths. The Last Post was played, followed by two minutes silence.

On November 3 the Great Gwent Poppy Run was held at Cwmcarn Forest Drive.
Around 160 runners took part in the fundraising event – the largest outside the main poppy appeal for the committee of Gwent County Royal British Legion.

Gwent Poppy Appeal Coordinator Mike Jones said: “This is our third year and our support is growing, I am delighted with the turnout. Our sponsors Supplement Central have been working hard with us promoting the run, which raises valuable funds and has got a lot of people talking about the Poppy Appeal.”

Last year the Poppy Appeal in Gwent raised a total of £273,843.

Mr Jones added: “We thank the people of Gwent in these challenging times for their continued support of the Poppy Appeal.

“We are aiming to build on last year’s total, to provide valuable funds for the essential welfare work of the British legion in support the men, women and families of our service community.”

I am very disappointed that you did not publish that Caerphilly Remembrance Ceremony had the Honor of a Serving Royal Marine participating in the Ceremony by ''Taking the Salute'' and Laying a Wreath on behalf of his 'Brothers''and the Fallen from Conflicts''
