United Welsh tenants ‘happy’

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Thursday November 21st, 2013.

Tenants of United Welsh housing association have never been happier living in their homes, according to a survey by the not-for-profit organisation.

Nearly 4,600 residents across South Wales were asked how they felt about United Welsh and the services it provides. In total, more than 1,700 replied – with more than 600 of them from Caerphilly.

The survey showed that 86% of respondents were happy with the overall services provided by the Caerphilly-based organisation – its highest ever score.

The score was also an increase of 11% on last year’s result.

Tony Whittaker, Chief Executive of United Welsh, said: “We have invested more than £16 million in improvements to our properties in the past three years to ensure our homes remain modern, comfortable and secure.

“We listened carefully to what our customers were telling us and put in significant work to improve the service we give to our tenants, which led us to achieving and maintaining the prestigious Customer Service Excellence Award since 2011.

“I’m delighted that the hard work of our people has paid off and that our tenants are reaping the rewards.

“However, there is no time to rest on our laurels. In this tough economic climate, our tenants are facing many challenges and we need to make sure we are there to support them.”

What value in this ` don`t upset the landlord` survey, liken it`s results to asking low paid, zero hours contract workers `how do you like having a job, any job`???? I bet that survey would come back 100% `love it`.

It's a nice little money making business. Buy up cheap and low quality housing and rent it for an inflated price to those who are most vulnerable and needy in society. Offer them more favorable contracts to the ones offered by the state and the tenants will come crawling to you.

Is it moral? Not really (it's exploitative)

Does it generate lots of wealth for you? YES!

I might have to diversify my businesses…

last year i congratulated you on the way you treat your staff then i said to you it was a pity you did not treat your tenants the same way.

my daughter has a property with you the united welsh in diamond close caerphilly

this time last year she was living in a two bedroom house and because her children are aged 11years and 16 years of age and are different gender they needed their own bedrooms.my daughter has to sleep in the kitchen on a bed settee.she has done this for the last few years despite requesting a transfer to a three bedroom property with you ,nothing has changed she is still sleeping in the kitchen, yes she is pleased with the service you carry out on the homes but you keep on blowing your own trumpet and self congratulating yourselves you still need to listen to your tenants when they make a request to you.

David Pring Snr, be grateful that your daughter has a roof over hear head at all. In many countries if you couldn't afford to buy a house yourself or pay the massively inflated rent (sometime a months rent is near a year's salary), then tough, live on the streets.

    Cheryl:

You again hit the nail on the head. Throw em all on the streets unless they tug their forelocks and fall about in eternal sycophantic gratitude.

You are not of this world I think.

    Come on Trefor! It's ungrateful.

E.g. look at those in the Philippines. You don't see them complaining about the small tents they are forced to live in or the lack of variety of food they have been given. NO! They know that such items have been donated form the good will of the international community and are grateful for it. Imagine if such people were complaining about what help is being given to them. There would be outrage but because it's in Britain and it's a house it's okay to complain is it?

David Pring's daughter has had something given to her on good will from the state and should be thankful for that instead of complaining.

dear cheryl i think you are talking out of your …, i am very sympathetic to anyone in the whole wide world who is struggling not just having somewhere to live but in life generally.i do and will always support charities i was making the point of an organization blowing their own trumpet ,last year they congratulated themselves on the way they treat their staff and this year through a tenants survey which everyone knows you can put what ever results you want to make the figures look good.you see this all the time with this pathetic government.as for everyone buying their own houses you make me think you are either a tory or a stuck up snob it takes all kinds of people to build a community and nobody deserves to be out on the street.
