Bedwas took the win against Swansea in the Principality Welsh Premiership on Saturday November 23.

Twenty one points from the boot of Richard Powell and a hat-trick of tries by Rory Budina helped Bedwas take the bonus point and move the club up to seventh in the table and away from the relegation zone.

Budina’s first try came with only three minutes on the clock as the ball was moved right and Budina sprinted to the corner, Powell converting. Swansea then attacked from the restart and Nicky J Thomas added three points after Bedwas were penalised at a ruck.

However with Powell returning to form with some excellent place kicking, Bedwas extended their lead to 13-3.
Bedwas then failed to claim a restart leaving Swansea winger Richard Williams quickly moving the ball left for centre Alec Jenkins to cross for an unconverted try.

Powell and Thomas exchanged penalties as half time approached with Bedwas 16 points to 11 ahead at the interval.
Once again Powell and Thomas traded penalty goals before Swansea’s clement was yellow carded for a dangerous tackle and Powell added his fifth penalty of the afternoon.

A quick tap penalty was passed to Budina who accelerated away for a try in the corner, Powell converted.
Two minutes later Budina claimed his hat-trick on the right hand side as he out-paced the home defence. Powell added the conversion to claim a personal tally of 21 points.

Stuart Thomas set up Deri Mattravers for Bedwas’ fourth try in the right hand corner. Powell missed the conversion attempt but the game was effectively won.

Swansea had the last word when prop Tom Sloane crossed out wide and Nicky J Thomas added the conversion to make the final score Swansea 21 Bedwas 41.
