Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team was joined by the Cardiff Devils for an evening at Bargoed ice rink last week.

Cardiff Devils Brad Plumton, Jake Morissette and Mac Faulkner took to the ice with local children, and presented prizes to the winners of a local school’s competition on Thursday December 12.

Children from the four local schools – Gilfach Fargoed, Ysgol Gymraeg Gilfach Fargoed, Park Primary and St Gwladys Primary Schools – have been busy designing posters that can be displayed in the town centre, including Hanbury Road and Cardiff Road, to remind drivers about their parking.

Eight year old Joshua Loxton from Park Primary School was chosen as the winner and received £20 Morrisons vouchers from the newly opened supermarket in the town. His winning design has been made into signs and will be displayed throughout Bargoed Town Centre to remind people not to park illegally on double yellow lines. All of the runners-up received a £15 voucher from the supermarket.

Inspector Sarah Greening from Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I’d like to thank the Cardiff Devils for coming along to Bargoed ice rink and for taking the time to skate with local children and present the winners and runners-up of our parking competition with their prizes.

“Everyone who entered the parking sign competition did a fantastic job and it was really difficult to judge as there were so many creative entries. Congratulations to Joshua and all of the children who received runner-up prizes. We hope that Joshua’s sign, which will be put up throughout the town centre, will make drivers think twice and encourage them to park legally for the safety of everyone using our town.”
