Catering students from training company ACT are getting their hands dirty with their own allotment.

As part of their Hospitality and Catering qualification, the students learn about seasonal produce and its journey from the ground to the table.

The team behind Hospitality and Catering felt that an allotment would be the best way to show learners the origins of their food so approached Llanbradach allotments for help, which agreed to give them a plot for free this year. It is hoped that the learner’s produce will eventually be used to supply local soup kitchens and food banks.

Graham Saunders, of Llanbradach Allotments, said: “It’s so great to see young people learning about healthy eating and finding out more about the origins of their food.

“We really hope the learners find the allotment plot fruitful this year.”
