Cefn Fforest boxer Nathan Cleverly appears to be lining up a rematch with Tony Bellew after a colourful argument on Twitter.

The former WBO world champion beat the Liverpool fighter in 2011 with a points decision, days after a fiery press conference erupted into a fracas between the boxers.

Bellew used a post-fight Sky Sports interview on March 15 to call for a rematch against his rival.

He said: “I am sick of hearing about his maths degree and him changing trainers every five minutes. Just fight. That’s what we are supposed to do, I am sick of talking about it.”

Cleverly, who along with Bellew has moved up to the cruiserweight division, responded on Twitter.

He tweeted: “I hear some gobs***e mugging me off on Sky Sports last night. Gloves back on soon. I may even give that mouthpiece another spanking.”

A war of words ensued and Bellew responded by tweeting: “I say it how it is, I get in a ring and fight, I suggest you do the same thing. Lets do it.”

The Welshman called on Bellew to show more respect “next time I beat you” to which the English fighter replied: “Respect? You make me laugh, you didn’t beat me first time.

“Like I said I’m done with questions on you, fight or carry on hiding.”

Nathan Cleverly had the final say, calling Bellew a “silly, stupid deluded man” ensuring that if a rematch does occur, it will attract attention and controversy in equal measure.

The 27-year-old Caerphilly fighter has yet to make his cruiserweight debut and withdrew from a March 1 fight due to injury. It was the third time his debut had been postponed.

Cleverly opted for the change after losing his world title to Sergey Kovalev in Cardiff last August.

He has also recently changed trainers and is “trying out” Adam Booth, who helped David Haye to heavyweight titles, at a base in London.
