Blackwood Carnival, now in its 15th year, will be held on Saturday August 2, and promises to be a fun-packed day of entertainment for the whole family.
The Carnival Parade starts at 12noon from the Ambulance Station Site at Cwmgelli and then work its way down the High Street to Pontllanfraith Civic Centre Fields for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.
With bikes, scooters, vintage buses, vintage and customised cars, the SARA Lifeboat and even a Welsh Air Ambulance there’ll be something for everyone. Musical entertainment will be provided by Cefn Fforest Jazz Band, Thee Solitaires and Cefn Hengoed Majestics. Dancelicious Cheer Dance Group will be entertaining the crowds with carnival spirit.
At Pontllanfraith Civic Centre there will be over 40 craft stalls, funfair, dog show, animal exhibits, Port Talbot Wrestling Alliance, water rockets, CURS Civil War Re-enactment Society, British Armour Plate Society and children’s entertainment from Johnno.
Performing live on stage throughout the afternoon will be DYT Dance Group, Dancelicious Cheer Dance Group with live music from Yasmine Davies and Outatime.
Blackwood Town Council are pleased to announce this years Carnival Queen is Sally Ann Morgan, the Princesses are Taryn Sargeant, Ellisia Cartwright, Nadia Moon, Alice Mee Bishop & Kaci Jayne and the Flower Girl is Phillipa Morgan who will all be in attendance throughout the day.
Councillor Granville Hale, Chair of the Blackwood Town Council Events Committee said ‘We are praying for fine weather, so that residents of the Town and surrounding communities, can enjoy what we hope will be an afternoon of fun and entertainment for the whole family. Please show your support by lining the High Street to view the parade, and then follow us down to the Civic Centre Fields to join in the fun.’
