Football: Nelson Cavaliers win two in a row to secure second in league

Nelson Cavaliers beat Cascade and Tir-y-Birth in the Taff Ely & Rhymney Valley Premier League.

They beat Tir-y-Birth 3-1 at home on August 28 with a hat-trick from Ben Banks and some inspired goal-keeping by Matthew Farr.

On August 30 the Cavaliers won 3-0 away at Cascade witha brace from star striker Ben Banks and a goal from Dan Sudale.

Nelson sit second in the league with nine points from four games, while Llanbradach are top with a game in hand.

The Cavaliers’ seconds are ninth in League One after a 1-0 defeat at Ynysybwl and a 6-0 home defeat to Cwrt Rawlin.

They face Llantwit Fadre on September 6 with the first team eyeing up a cup encounter with Abercynon on September 27.
