A Scout Group has celebrated its first anniversary.

1st Senghenydd Scout Group holds its meetings every Friday between 6.15pm and 7.45pm at Senghenydd’s Youth Drop-in Centre, in Gwern Avenue.

Pam Pitten, the leader of 1st Senghenydd, said: “We now have Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections and we are growing slowly.

“The group has achieved a lot in their first year. We have been involved with a community project with Senghenydd Youth Drop In Centre. Funded through Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services along with other young people’s organisations through Wales.

“Our one big achievement was meeting HRH the Prince of Wales and HRH the Duchess of Cornwall in July – A very proud moment.

“All our leaders are very dedicated to the group. Beaver Leader Liz Bull. Assistant Beaver Leader Nikki Pitten, Assistant Beaver Leader Lowri O’Shea, Cub Leader Paul Thomas Assistant helper Explorer Shona Pitten. Scout Leader Maria Pitten and Scout Leader Dave Richings and myself.

“A Big Happy 1st Birthday and may the group flourish in the future.”
