Caerphilly County Borough Council Cabinet Members have agreed to the sale or leasehold disposal of the old Newbridge Library.
The council currently holds the freehold interest in the library site, but it has been deemed surplus to requirements since the library for the Newbridge area was relocated to the nearby Newbridge Memo building.
A Wednesday November 12, a meeting of the council’s Cabinet was told there had already been a ‘limited’ number of enquiries about the building, including one from a community organisation.
Cabinet Members unanimously agreed that the availability for disposal via freehold sale or lease should be advertised to raise its awareness to external organisations. Any interested parties will need to submit an appropriate and sustainable business case.
All offers will be considered by the council’s Asset Management Group and following the conclusion of that process a further report will be presented to Cabinet.
