A teenager has admitted murdering Michael Lee Emmett, who died a month after he and a friend were stabbed in Blackwood.

Mr Emmett, 29, and 44-year-old John Williams were stabbed on Bryn Road and Apollo Way on August 1.

The father of twins is also dad of a daughter, who was born after he died in hospital from his wounds on September 2.

Mr Williams received hospital treatment for his injuries and has since been released.

The Blackwood boy, who was 16 at the time of the attack, pleaded guilty to murder via video link from Parc Prison at Cardiff Crown Court today, December 17.

He was convicted of two counts of wounding with intent and assault, after he spat in a police officer’s face while in custody at Ystrad Mynach Police Station, at Newport Magistrates Court in August.

He also breached his Asbo and was charged with murder following Mr Emmett’s death.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on January 14.
