Maesycwmmer Holiday star Craig Roberts took acting lessons off Ty Hafan patients when he dropped in to watch their Disney-themed pantomime.

The 23-year-old former Tracy Beaker star dropped into the children’s hospice as part of their Precious Moments campaign.

The star, who has appeared in 22 Jump Street and With Channing Tatum and Bad Neighbours with Zac Efron, has just finished directing a film of his own, set in his home village.

Just Jim, starring Emile Hirsch will be released in September and the Welsh actor is calling on the public to support Ty Hafan’s campaign to create special moments for children, especially over the Christmas period.

Mr Roberts said: “The work that Ty Hafan does is incredibly important. The staff and volunteers working at the children’s hospice do the most remarkable job to ensure that children and their families can celebrate Christmas with the care and the support that they need, and I am honoured to be here today.”

It costs £3.7m a year to provide the charity’s state-of-the-art facilities at Sully and  Ty Hafan are asking people to talk about their own precious moments through social media and help continue providing support for life-limited children across South Wales.

Ty Hafan’s Jenna Lewis said: “Life is all about those precious moments so we want people to think about their own most special memories and share them online.

“The support that Ty Hafan provides extends further than our hospice and is delivered in the family home, at hospital and in schools across Wales. Our hope is that the public will support our Christmas appeal so we can continue providing families with precious moments which they can cherish forever.”
