A herd of magnificent reindeer were seen sweeping into the Visitor Centre at Parc Cwm Darran recently, complete with antlers and shiny red noses – the strange thing was they all had wooden bodies.
They were the end result of a reindeer making event organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside Service. Children and adults alike had fun constructing their very own reindeer from locally sourced sustainable wood.
The Countryside Rangers were on hand to help and guide the reindeer making, with more than 50 people coming from far and wide to join in.
Senior Ranger Peter Lewis said: “It was great to see parents having so much fun working together with their children, and then having the opportunity to explore the beauty that is on offer at Parc Cwm Darran.”
