A music tutoring business is looking to hit the right notes with its customers after receiving grant support from Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Leigh and Claire Canning set up Maestro Music Tutoring Services in 2011 to provide piano and violin lessons for their clients. Such has been their success that the pair decided to grow their business by leasing a business premises on Fleur de Lys High Street.

The couple approached Caerphilly County Borough Council for grant funding for some new equipment to help further enhance the offering to their customers, and the council was able to oblige through a Business Development Grant.

The grant has enabled Leigh and Claire to purchase a new piano, enabling clients to tinkle the ivories at Maestro Music in Fleur de Lys.

Leigh Canning said: “We are very grateful to Caerphilly County Borough Council for awarding us this grant, as it has enabled us to expand our music service. Maestro Music now offers piano lessons on digital and, thanks to the council, a brand new acoustic piano.

“This has helped enormously as it now gives our customers more choice with regards to which piano they can play as well as enabling us to be more flexible with lesson times.”

Cllr Ken James, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning & Sustainable Development, said: “It’s always pleasing to hear of a local company that is flourishing, and I’m thrilled that the council has been able to support Leigh and Claire in further expanding this exciting business. I wish them both every success for the future.”

How fantastic! I really do want to have my council tax rise so the council can continue to give grants to a music lesson company which will end up employing little to no people in the future.

Isn’t this the same council who want to cut support for their own music services? They say the business is flourishing – mine would be too if I didn’t have to pay back a loan.
So let’s get this right: if I’m living in a council house that is too big for me that’s ok to have public money, if I want it set up a business then that’s ok but public toilets etc etc must be closed.

You couldn’t make it up! CCBC are rising our council tax so they can divert more money from the haves to people living in council houses too big for them, or people setting up businesses creating very few jobs. We are working so other people don’t have to. If you want a business, save up first! If you want a bigger house, buy it! Don’t expect the state to buy things for you.

      Slavery of the talented!
