Motorists in Cwmcarn have been warned to be extra vigilant after a spate of criminal damage.
The warning comes after four recent reported incidents in areas including Nantcarn Road, Bernard Street and Feeder Row in Cwmcarn.
Police officers are patrolling “hotspot” areas and advising motorists on ways to protect their cars from being targeted.
Sergeant Andy Down said: “Sometimes there’s no real reason behind criminal damage, but we want to advise residents and motorists to help them do as much as they can to prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime.
“For example, you can help to protect your vehicle by simply folding in the wing mirrors, or by parking in areas that are covered by CCTV or have good street lighting.
“These are often mindless acts by individuals but be warned, if you are caught and found guilty of criminal damage you will face a criminal record and a possible fine of up to £5,000.”
The lowlife idiots who are doing this should be rounded up and made to do national service for a few years to learn some respect for other people’s belongings, and their faces, names and addresses printed in the local press. For most people a car is huge investment of money, people save for years to be able to afford a car so it is sickening to find that some mindless cretin has caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to it, a possible fine of £5000 is no deterant as the pondlife doing this most likely have no means of paying, some broken bones may teach them a lesson.
