Members of Pontllanfraith RFC are trying to raise £5,000 for essential repairs to the club house.
The club is straddled with debt and poor credit so volunteers are being sought to lend time and materials to help with the repairs.
Volunteer Natalie Lammert said on the pitch the club are doing well, and they want to extend to a junior section but need the facilities to do so.
She said: “We know it’s quite expensive to go out a lot so we can’t get the money behind the bar.
“Another reason people are not going there is because it’s not very nice, it needs a lot of work.
“They are a great bunch of boys, it will be a shame for the club to close, but no one wants to come back to the club.
“If we can do it up people will start coming back.”
To raise money, the band 4th Street Traffic are playing at the club on March 28.
Tickets cost £5 and are available from the club, or from Pontllanfraith RFC’s Facebook page.
