Bedwas centre Aaron Pinches has claimed the second Principality Premiership player of the month award of 2015.

Pinches has been a mainstay of his side’s efforts this season, only missing three Principality Premiership games and scoring six league tries.

Head coach Steve Law said: “Aaron has had an excellent season. He trains really hard on his weaknesses, he scores tries but also creates a lot for the rest of the team. He’s great carrying the ball and a constant threat to the opposition.

“Aaron has improved as the season’s gone on and is certainly one of the best there is in the Principality Premiership. I believe with a bit of luck he could step up to regional rugby if he was given the opportunity.”

Law is realistic about the club’s season. He said: “It hasn’t been a negative season but we’re so near the play-offs yet so far away again.

“We’ve lost half a dozen or so matches by less than a score so we can take some positives from that and build on it for next season.

“We’ve got some good young players at the club, some age grade internationals and young Dragons players so if we can hold onto most of the squad for next season, we should be in a good position to have another crack at the top spots.”

Andrew McGill, Principality Building Society’s Caerphilly branch manager, said: “Congratulations to Aaron who has been on great form throughout February, scoring a handful of tries to help Bedwas secure more points in the league.

“Competition in the Principality Premiership has been fierce this season and we hope this will continue in the final games of the season. We wish Aaron and Bedwas the best of luck.”
