A sweet company boss is bidding to raise more than £20,000 for children’s hospice Ty Hafan.

Staff from Bon Bon Buddies, based in Oakdale, will be cheering on Managing Director Justin Thomas when he takes part in the 12-mile Tough Mudder extreme obstacle race in Gloucestershire on August 22.

Mr Thomas said: “We are a children’s confectionery company, and many of our employees have young children or even grandchildren. As such Ty Hafan is very special to our team.

“I am a father myself to two wonderful children so it makes you appreciate how precious life really is and the incredible work Ty Hafan undertake for those less fortunate than us. Ty Hafan’s importance was further reinforced recently with the illness of a close family friends’ child and it highlighted both the fantastic services they provide.”

Bon Bon Buddies has supported Ty Hafan for the last two years and has raised £7,000 in that time.

Caerphilly County Borough Mayor Leon Gardiner recently visited the company and donated £20 to Mr Thomas’ fundraising. Cllr Gardiner is supporting Ty Hafan this year as part of this Mayor’s Appeal.

He said: “I would like to wish Justin and the Bon Bon Buddies team all the best with this fantastic challenge.” To sponsor Mr Thomas visit www.justgiving.com/Justin-Thomas6.
