Plaid Cymru has announced its top three candidates for the South Wales East regional list in the National Assembly elections next year.
The list is topped by Steffan Lewis, with Rhayna Mann taking second place and Nigel Copner as number three.
Rhayna Mann, who stood in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney in the General Election, said: “Plaid Cymru has a positive vision to strengthen Wales’ economy, NHS and public services.
“We need a strong Plaid government to stand Wales on her feet. I’m proud to be part of such a great team that has the skills, experience and dedication to get the job done.”
With Labour puting up a NEW Candidate in the Caerphilly Constituency,
UKIP within touching distance, and Plaid Cymru losing votes in all
recent elections, being beaten in the constituency into forth place by, EVEN, the Welsh Conservatives, there is nothing to suggest Plaid Cymru will even hold onto its regional list seats, which was the way Lindsay Whittle reach higher political office.
Plaid Cymru are very likely to lose seats again in the Assembly next year. The reason for this is that with UKIP and the Welsh Conservatives having so many votes cast for them throughout Wales, they are likely to be streets ahead of Plaid in attracting regional list seats. Plaid Cymru will be lucky to hold onto its current seats in the Assembly, probably losing them to UKIP and the Trores. That being the case Labour could also find themselves losing seats to the Tories, or dare I say it? to UKIP. Certainly seats will not fall from any party to Plaid Cymru.
Lionel,
Based on the General Election results Plaid will win zero seats in South Wales East, losing both of their regional list seats to UKIP. This will probably also happen in the other regions, with UKIP winning 7 regional seats, while Plaid fall to 3 regional seats and 3 constituency seats for a total of 6 down from the current 11.
My point exactly, but, where are the Plaid Cymru supporters and string pullers, if they want to attract voters, keep voters or stop supporters dumping them in huge numbers, they should be promoting their position now on sites like this one, they are quick enough in looking at the CO to publicise their press releases, and the Editor appears amenable to do so. But it seems to flop into a none interest story unless Plaid supporters, including these political wanabies named in the article come out fighting their cause, or as sure as night follows day they will all fail in their attempts to get elected, who are they for goodness sake, I have never heard of any of `em.
I think I must be the last man standing in respect to my, so far, undiluted support of Plaid Cymru as a political movement, I am however dismayed by the total lack of comments in support of the party line in respect to stories on the Caerphilly Observer, this article for instance informing the electorate of the `names` of those we intend to promote as potencial Assembly Members in next years elections leave me mysified. The party should inform the public who these people are, what is their claim to political fame, where do the live, what communities in these valleys do they belong,. We as a party will fall into the same old methods as Labour have wallowed in for years when it comes to supporting `replacements` for retiring seat holders, expecting the public to follow us like some love lorne girlfriend all dewy eyed, Welsh Politics is going to see a huge change next year, gone will be Welsh Labour, in will come Tory and UKIP Assembly members, as other commenters have said, and we will see our demise, akin to that seen by Lib Dems kull in the General Election if we dont wake up now..
My party members need to come out fighting NOW, we still have a respectable number of local Councillors in the Constituency, come on boys, lets see what you are made of now that everyone says the chips are down. We do not have the option to wait, to flag now means the race is lost. John Gwynn, Sid Morgan, and others would not have been so slow to take the fight to the people.
I also am consider all polling options.
