Police investigate death of one-month-old baby girl from Senghenydd

A one-month-old baby girl from Senghenydd, who was airlifted to hospital, has died, police have confirmed.

Police and the ambulance service were called to an address in Commercial Street, Senghenydd, at 10.40am today, Friday October 2.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “A one month old baby girl was conveyed to the University Hospital of Wales. She was later sadly pronounced deceased.

“Officers are currently undertaking further enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. It is currently being treated as unexplained.”

Police have not disclosed any further information.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.40am today, Friday 2 October, to an address on Commercial Street.

“We sent two rapid response cars, an emergency ambulance and a Wales Air Ambulance to the scene, and a baby girl was airlifted to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales.”
