Abertridwr-born Ben Flower will vice-captain Wales at the upcoming European Championship.
Flower, 27, who made headlines last year after being sent off in the Super League grand-final will be second in command for the three games against France Scotland and Ireland in October and November.
Before that, Flower will hope to redeem himself and help Wigan Warriors to victory against Leeds in the Super League Grand Final on Saturday, October 10.
The prop scored at first-half try in Wigan’s 32-8 win over Huddersfield Giants in the semi-final on October 1.
Flower is one of 10 Super League players in Wales’ 24-man squad for the championships.
Wales captain, Widnes’ Lloyd White, said: “I’m pleased that Ben Flower has been appointed vice-captain. He’s one of my closest mates, has been since the Celtic Crusaders days, so it should be good. Ben’s captained Wales in the past so I’ll be relying on him to help me along.”
Wales play Scotland in Wrexham on October 16, before facing France in Cardiff on October 30 and Ireland in Bray a week later. For tickets visit www.walesrugbyleague.co.uk.
