A confectionery company and an insurance broker have raised more than £24,600 for children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan.

Sweet firm Bon Bon Buddies, based in Oakdale, raised £14,600 for the charity after its managing director took part in the Tough Mudder challenge while insurance firm Thomas Carroll, based in Caerphilly town, raised £10,000 with a sponsored cycle to Paris.

Bon Bon Buddies has been a supporter of Tŷ Hafan for the last two years and has previously raised £8,500 for it.
Tough Mudder is a 12-mile extreme obstacle course and Bon Bon Buddies’ Managing Director Justin Thomas completed it in August this year.

He said: “We are a children’s confectionery company and many of our employees have young children or even grandchildren. As such, Tŷ Hafan is very special to our team.”

A team of Thomas Carroll charity cyclists tackled the 295-mile bike ride from London to Paris to raise £10,000.
Paul Evans, Account Manager and team captain for the bike ride, said: “Riding 74 miles a day with a team of mixed cycling experience was a challenge, but the incredible team spirit and the vital cause, pulled us through.”

Tŷ Hafan supports life-limited children and their families from across Wales. It costs £10,000 to fund all of Tŷ Hafan’s palliative care services for 24 hours.
