Towns and villages across Caerphilly County Borough stood silent in remembrance on Sunday November 8.

Remembrance Sunday was marked up and down the borough, including in Blackwood, Risca, Rhymney and Caerphilly.

Services were held at cenotaphs, wreaths laid and prayers made to remember those who have died fighting for Britain from World War One onwards.

Dignitaries joined veterans and residents for a minute’s silence after the Last Post sounded across Caerphilly County Borough, Wales and the country.

A century has passed since the beginning of the First World War in which up to 17 million people lost their lives.

On November 11 Armistice Day was also marked across the county borough.

Services took place in Blackwood and Risca to remember the dead, 97 years after the Armistice was signed, officially bringing an end to World War One.
