Two arrested for drink and drug driving in Abertridwr and Senghenydd

News | | Published: 12:00, Thursday December 10th, 2015.

A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he failed to stop for a police officer and then crashed into a bus stop.

Police had originally wanted to speak to the driver about a faulty rear light on the vehicle when it was stopped in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, December 8.

Officers later found the car abandoned after it had crashed into a bus stop on Commercial Street, Senghenydd.
The driver, a 26-year-old from Senghenydd, was found after a search by officers and arrested on suspicion of drug driving, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

He was released on police bail until January 11.

The arrest follows that of a 53-year-old Penyrheol man who has been charged with drink driving.

The driver, who was arrested on Sunday, December 6, in Graig-Y-Fedw, Abertridwr, has also been charged on suspicion of failing to stop for an officer. He is set to appear in court next month for both offences.

Caerphilly Inspector Gareth Jones said “These arrests are a warning to drivers that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated.

“Both of these arrests have been as a result of pro-active patrols being carried out by officers in the Aber Valley area of Caerphilly.”
