Arriva Trains Wales drivers to go on strike again

Rail passengers in Wales are facing another day of misery after the union Aslef announced a drivers’ strike for Arriva Trains Wales.

The 24-hour walkout will take place on February 1 – the second time this year. Members of the RMT and Aslef unions went on strike on January 4.

The industrial dispute centres on a row over revised working terms and conditions. The union has already accepted a new pay offer from the rail firm, but has previously said that Arriva was trying to “railroad through” new terms.

Anouncing the industrial action on January 12, a union statement read: “Aslef today announced that, in the light of Arriva Trains Wales’ failure to offer a satisfactory resolution to the long and ongoing dispute with its drivers, our members will withdraw their labour for 24 hours.”

Unbelievable! Overpaid and under-worked. Crush the strikers!

I think the railworkers may find that the rail travelling public have little symathy for them given that many of us have not had a pay rise for years and can only dream of the conditions that they enjoy.
