Machen road safety group to hold public meeting

News | | Published: 10:00, Monday March 7th, 2016.

A new community group focused on road safety in Machen will be holding a public meeting, ahead of a Speed Watch campaign launch.

Machen Community Road Watch, formed in October 2015, will chair a Q&A session at The Machen Legion at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 9 for residents to express their opinions on road safety in the village.

The group will launch a brand new Speed Watch campaign on Friday, March 11, and say they intend to use education over enforcement to raise awareness about the dangers of breaching speed limits on Machen roads.

Perhaps the group could look into the dreadful illegal parking within Machen, selfish inconsiderate car owners seem to think it’s okay to dump their vehicles on pavements, double yellow lines and grass verges, with some even being thick headed enough to commit all three parking offences in one go. Pavements are for pedestrians, double yellow lines are there for a very good reason and a council grass verge is certainly not for parking on. If people have nowhere legal to park a car then they shouldn’t have one, or two, or three,or four, or five.
