Caerphilly Castle will play host to the hotly-anticipated RBS Six Nations clash between England and Wales on Saturday, March 12.
Cadw have made 500 tickets available for the open-air screening, where fans can watch the match on a large six metre screen in the castle’s inner-courtyard.
The Great Hall will feature food services and a full bar, and doors open at 12pm for a fun family day featuring a screening of the 1.30pm Italy vs Ireland game, sports activities for kids, and free face painting. The event finishes at 6.30pm.
Ken Skates, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, said: “The Wales v England game is always one of the biggest Six Nations fixtures so it was only fitting that we chose a venue to match the occasion.
“We are very keen for our historic sites to play their part in Wales’s Year of Adventure and we look forward to seeing Caerphilly Castle filled with cheering fans.
“We’re always looking for new ways in which people can engage with and enjoy our historic attractions and this event will be a first for us in Wales.”
The inner-courtyard will be closed to the general public on the day but will be open as usual on Friday March 11 and Sunday March 13.
Tickets are limited and priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The ticket price includes the general entry to Caerphilly Castle (usually £6 for adults and £4.20 for children).
What a great idea hope the weather is kind to them, will they allow me in with my England shirt on, second thoughts – I fear another thrashing from a very good Welsh team so perhaps watching from behind the sofa will be a better option.
I’d pay to watch you walk in with your English shirt on, now I understand why you have so much negativity….
A bit racist as the Labour/Tory/Liberal democrats would say! I have never yet a met a Welsh person that had no English ancestry.
Well you can end your search, you have finally met a Welshman with a proven welsh heritage, not an Englishman in sight, and Exactly which part of my comment was racist ?
Lets find fault where there isn’t said the Independent/UKIP
