How likely are you to win at gambling based on your regional location?

Can your location affect your luck? Whilst there’s no exact science behind it, recent studies have suggested that it’s not so grim up north for gamblers.

On average, gamblers in the North East are the most likely to increase their finances by having a flutter. The latest figures published by the Office of National Statistics are proof positive that Geordies not only outperform their southern counterparts in the gambling stakes, but make a rather tidy net profit too!

Britain’s luckiest bingo towns
Further studies reveal that the north comes out on top when it comes to bagging top bingo prizes. Blackpool is officially the UK’s luckiest town for bingo players, with the North East’s Stockton-on-Tees taking second place. It seems that there might be something in the water!

Why are northerners so lucky at Bingo?
As far as stereotypes go, northerners certainly don’t lack any self-confidence, and psychologists believe that this might have an effect on gambling habits. Put simply, hardy northerners may be bigger risk takers, resulting in bigger gains when gambling.

Does location really matter?
Those among us who are superstitious might believe that lady luck shines on the north – although before you clamber on up the M6, consider how Wink Bingo allows you to play the latest games wherever you are, and whenever you want.

Bingo has come a long way since its 16th century origins, and Wink Bingo has taken the popular pastime well and truly into the modern age. Think you know bingo? Find out how strong your bingo game is with this fun quiz .

Wherever I lay my phone, that’s my home
Given the ever-increasing popularity of Wink Bingo’s online app, we expect to see the winning streak enjoyed by the north spread across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom. Players can enjoy a game of bingo wherever they like – on the train, in the pub, or at home on the sofa – meaning that the potential to win big is open to you literally wherever you take your phone. However, if you believe in superstition, you might want to summon your inner Geordie and shout “why aye man” as the numbers roll in, regardless of whether you’re at Land’s End, John O’ Groats or somewhere in between.

How much could I win on a Bingo app?
Guaranteed jackpots mean that luckiest players enjoy wins of up to £200,000 each and every month, with plenty of other juicy prizes on offer along the way. Wink Bingo pays out nearly £750,000 in prizes on a daily basis, with players from all over the country eager to get in on the action. There’s also non-monetary prizes like holidays and tablet computers on offer, so there are plenty of reasons to play.

Are you feeling lucky? Why not check out this mobile app – you could land a full-house jackpot from the comfort of your home and become the next big winner in a matter of seconds. Come and join the fun. Mobile bingo has never been this exciting!

  • A new health board initiative is changing the way menopause care is delivered in GP surgeries across Gwent. The Menopause Champions Project, introduced in June this year by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, aims to give patients going through menopause better access to informed and consistent support from their local practice teams. The scheme was developed by Dr Jayne Forrester-Paton, a menopause and sexual and reproductive health specialist, alongside Dr Michelle Olver, clinical lead of the menopause team, and nurse consultant Nikki Noble. Together, they set out to equip GPs and practice nurses with up-to-date knowledge and practical tools to improve care. So far, 41 GP practices in the region now have a trained “Menopause Champion” — a clinician who can provide advice and guidance on both hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options. These champions are backed by a network of colleagues and specialists to help them stay confident in managing more complex cases. Dr Forrester-Paton said the project had already made a strong start and would continue to grow: “We are proud of how successful this project has been so far and will continue to grow, with plans to expand educational sessions for clinicians, offer virtual case discussions to improve care for complex menopause cases and strengthen the collaboration between primary care and specialist menopause services. “The Menopause Champions Project is helping to ensure that menopause is treated with the same care and attention as any other health issue, giving patients the support they need, when they need it.”
