Coleg Gwent appoints new principal from within

News | | Published: 15:00, Monday April 4th, 2016.

Coleg Gwent has appointed its interim principal to the permanent position.

Guy Lacey, who took on the role on an interim basis in August 2015, was approved as the first choice candidate by the further education college’s board of governors following an open recruitment drive, and will officially start on Friday, April 1.

Mr Lacey has over 20 years’ experience in education at a number of schools and colleges across the UK, and has previously worked as an examiner for the University of Cambridge, and as an inspector for Estyn – the quality regulator for schools in Wales.

He was Coleg Gwent’s deputy principal before taking the interim post.

Mr Lacey said: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to continue in the role of principal, working with staff and students, to continue the progress we are making in these challenging, but exciting times.”

Chair of Governors, Angela Lloyd said: “In his interim role, Guy has proven his commitment and dedication to making Coleg Gwent the most successful and highest achieving college in Wales.”
