A cat that went missing six years ago has finally been reunited with its owner.
The nine-year-old tabby, named Chloe, disappeared after jumping from a pet carrier while on her way to a vet appointment in Caerphilly in 2010.
The cat made a dash from the car park and was presumed dead until its owner, Rebecca Lee, got an unexpected call from Cats Protection’s Bridgend Adoption Centre.
Chloe had been handed into the centre by the family of an elderly woman who had taken the stray cat in, but became too frail to continue to care for her.
The centre scanned the cat’s microchip and reunited her with her rightful owner.
Mrs Lee said: “It was a real shock, but lovely news to hear that Chloe had been found and was alive and well after so many years. I am delighted to be reunited with her and would advise all owners to get their cats microchipped and keep their details up to date.
“I would like to thank the team at Cats Protection for their part in bringing us back together at last.”
