Police make railway station witness appeal after murder of Ystrad Mynach woman, 75

Police investigating the murder of a 75-year-old woman have appealed for people who used Ystrad Mynach railway station yesterday to come forward.

Gwent Police said officers attended an address near the railway station, in Nelson Road, Ystrad Mynach, at 5.45pm on Tuesday, May 3, following a call from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

On arrival, the body of a 75-year-woman was found and her death is currently being treated as suspicious. A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “A 47 year old, local man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently receiving hospital treatment for minor injuries.

“The family of the deceased are being supported by specialist officers.

“If you used Ystrad Mynach train station at any time yesterday, you may be able to assist with our enquiries. Please get in touch by calling 101 and quoting log 363 03/05/2016.”
