The Senghenydd Youth Drop-In Centre has started work on its Enviro-Active project after receiving a grant from Tesco.
The supermarket’s Bags of Help initiative sees environmental and greenspace projects awarded grants of up to £12,000, with all money raised though the 5p plastic bag charge.
Tesco shoppers vote for the schemes they want to see benefit from the money.
SYDIC’s Enviro-Active project received £8,000, and will use the grant to run outdoor environmental sessions, log and research results highlighting issues and possible remedies.
Dave Brunton, Project Manager at the Senghenydd Youth Drop-In Centre, said: “The grant will help to fund our Enviro-Active project, which aims to make a long-term improvement to the understanding and management of the local environment by allowing young people to research local environmental issues and help find sustainable improvements.”
