Police are appealing for information to find 31-year-old Tyrone Birkett from Caerphilly who has breached his licence conditions after being released from prison on April 22, 2016.

Birkett was jailed for 18 weeks by magistrates in February after he stole five photo frame gift sets worth a total of £50 from Store 21, in Castle Court Shopping Centre.

He was released early on licence, but police have said he has breached his release conditions and has been recalled to prison.

Anyone with information about Tyrone Birkett’s whereabouts can call Gwent Police on 101 quoting 260 17/05/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Jailed for 18 weeks at a cost to the taxpayer of around £18,000 for stealing £50 worth of goods?

He got 18 weeks for stealing £50 worth of goods but the cretin who caused over £2000 worth of damage to my property only got 4 weeks and no fine, our justice system is a joke – the judge must just spin a wheel to decide what sentence if any to dish out.
