A nine-year-old talent has landed her biggest role to date after being cast in a BBC television drama.
Liwsi Kilcourse, from Machen, attends the Mark Jermin Stage School in Caerphilly and will be appearing in the second series of the BBC’s hit drama Ordinary Lies.
The first series of the show aired in 2015, and starred Mackenzie Crook, Jason Manford, Max Beesley and Jo Joyner.
The new series features an all-new ensemble cast which includes Griff Rhys Jones, Matt Di Angelo, Joel Fry and Jill Halfpenny, and is set in a Welsh call centre and warehouse of a sports sales company.
Liwsi has been cast as Florence, daughter of forklift driver Wendy Walker, played by Rebekah Staton.
She auditioned for the role in March, and has since been filming in Newport and Cardiff.
Liwsi’s mother, Roz Kilcourse, said: “It is just fantastic. When I was younger I never had these opportunities so it’s great to know that she is able to go to auditions and have these experiences at such a young age.”
Liwsi has attended weekly drama classes at The Mark Jermin Stage School since the Caerphilly branch opened in 2014.
Roz added: “Since joining the stage school, Liwsi is like a different child. She is so much more confident and I’m so proud of what she has achieved so far.”

“Liwsi attended our first-ever Caerphilly class and has been every week since. I am extremely proud and wish her the very best for her BBC filming experience.”
The first series saw six million people tune in to watch, and the next instalment is expected to return to television screens later this year.
