Caerphilly-based Direct Healthcare Group, owner of award-winning healthcare manufacturer Direct Healthcare Services, has bought Wrexham-based Nightingale Care Beds – a leading provider of specialist bariatric products.

Nightingale has more than 20 years’ experience providing bariatric equipment and services to a range of healthcare sectors.

It has developed a reputation for market-leading service and support, and is renowned for its bariatric support packages, which are configured to suit specific requirements.

Graham Ewart, Managing Director of Direct Healthcare Group, said Nightingale’s offering would fit “seamlessly” with the firm’s existing product and service portfolio.

He said: “Direct Healthcare Services and Nightingale share a customer and patient-centric ethos, and are committed to supporting healthcare professionals deliver harm free patient care.

“We are delighted to acquire such a well-respected brand and highly committed team. We are also pleased to be able to extend best value to all our customers in the increasingly demanding area of bariatric patient care.”

The acquisition of Nightingale Care Beds is the first in a series of planned key acquisitions for the Direct Healthcare Group, which was formed after a management buyout of DHS last month.

The company recently won a prestigious Queen’s Enterprise Award for Innovation for its Dyna-Form mattress, which is designed to save the NHS vital time and resources by reducing the incidence of pressure ulcers in hospital patients.
