RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after two kittens were found in a box in Caerphilly.

The kittens, one ginger and one black and white, were just weeks old and were found at Bedwas House Industrial Estate on Wednesday, July 13.

The person who found them took them to a local vet, where the ginger kitten was euthanised on welfare grounds.

The surviving kitten has been taken into RSPCA care, and is being looked after by a RSPCA Newport Adoption Centre fosterer.

RSPCA Inspector Izzi Hignell said: “These kittens were far too young to be able to survive on their own in a box like that, so we’d like to thank the kind member of public who found them and took them to a vets.

“When they were found one of the kittens was very dehydrated and extremely thin. Sadly, she had to be put to sleep on veterinary advice as she was so poorly.”

The RSPCA is now appealing for information to try and find out what happened to the animals.

Inspector Hignell added: “We don’t have any witnesses, so we urge anyone with any information to contact us on the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.

“It does appear that these kittens have been dumped, however, potentially it also could be the case where the mother cat has left the kittens herself.”
